Great Turn Out For Captain's Day

We had 15 players turning out on a chilly and wet March afternoon which is a great turn out for the time of year, many of our members prefer to wait until our Spring meeting in May to come out of golfing hibernation!

We play a better ball format off three quarters of handicap at this event with groups of three forming teams with one another so player A & player B, player A & player C, and player B & player C giving all a good chance of winning even if one of your partners is not playing well.

The winners by a single point with a score of 44 points were Ian Steed and Nick Marchant (as seen in photo), runners up were Neil Cossey (our Captain) and again Nick Marchant.

The longest drive was won by Beau Hart and nearest the pin was Timothy Dodd.

Princes Golf Club looked after us very well and the food was excellent. Our President Stephen Samuels and John Dixon joined us for lunch and the prize giving.

We now look forward to the 50th playing of the Triangular match at Royal Ashdown Forrest Golf Club (the match played annually between the Old School Golf Societies of St Lawrence, Dover and Kings Canterbury) on the 16th April.

We have a great turn out from all three schools and almost 40 for lunch. It will be a very special occasion with five people attending who played the very first fixture in 1961!

OL friends old lawrentian St lawrence college society quiz night 2018

So do you really know it all? Test your knowledge on a variety topics for this fun filled quiz. Ticket prices are £5.00 per head with teams of 6-8 people maximum, with 2 bottles of wine per table accompanied with nibbles. You are welcome to bring your own banquet and additional drink if you wish to. There will be a raffle on the night where you could win yourself some wonderful prizes. Candlelit Carols in the Chapel

It was wonderful to see so many Old Lawrentians, former parents, friends and staff members on Sunday to celebrate Christmas and enjoy rousing renditions of beautiful carols and numerous pieces by the College Choir and organist (OL, Jack Greenslade.
