Tower House

Tower Shield

TOWER (Since 1929)

Tower sits within the 2 floors below Lodge. Housemaster and wife, Gary and Jane Davies are now in their 6th year of tenure, ably supported by Steve King (resident tutor) and matron, Karen. Tower has seen some major changes this year with the departure of two long serving members of staff, Dr Trevor Clark and Ian Anderson (see Valete). Everyone in Tower wishes them well.   September therefore saw new faces join the Tower team. We welcomed Mike Stephens (Mathematics), Craig Brown (Economics/Business), Stefan Fraczek (English) and Wei Adams (International Hockey Coach & Trainee teacher). The House continues to thrive, and life for everyone is extremely full and fun. 56 boys from 13 countries make for a very diverse mix, yet they all get on with each other very easily and I am always staggered by just how quickly they settle in, and how soon it feels as if they have been here for ever. Improvements to the fabric of the House continue with a number of common areas decorated, Sky TV installed, new showers in the junior dorms, and new computers in the Yellow Room. However, the beautiful wood paneling listing names of Tower boys from the past is still beautifully in situ in what used to be the Tower Library, but now the Master’s Living room

Old Lawrentian Society Day March 201

Lunch, tours, sports, drinks and a chance to catch up with fellow OLs and staff...This year we also have the Careers Fair being held in the morning and we would very much appreciate some more volunteers to chat about their career and studies. The afternoon's Hockey Festival Cup is being played this year in honour of OL, Alex Underhill '10, who sadly passed away in 2017. A 2010 OL team will play against a mixed OL/SLC staff team and Canterbury Christchurch University. Netball and ahooting will also be competed. For those wishing to attend, a special service for Alex is taking place in the Chapel at 11.15am. Families and guests are most welcome. Please do let us know you are intending to come or if you would like to be part of the career Fair or a sports team so that we can plan and cater sufficiently. Many thanks.
